Potentially co-investing is an option.
The most important condition imposed on a candidate is an excellent substantive fit with the relevant portfolio company. Typically, this requires at a minimum international experience, sector knowledge, and the capacity to lead and excel in a "hands-on," rapidly growing enterprise.
An MBI option is certainly open for discussion, but not an absolute necessity.
