Company history/background
Patented method for single-stage plastic separation
A Dutch deep-tech company has developed a new sorting technique that can recognize and separate hard plastics in a single pass into main types, subtypes, and black. The method is protected by a recently granted European patent, thereby forming the basis for an exclusive future market position.
Company activities
Cost reduction and residual stream minimization
Current recycling lines are expensive, labor-intensive, and leave up to approximately 40% residual stream, which is subsequently incinerated. The new technology reduces sorting costs by more than 50%, lowers energy and peak loads by approximately 70%, and halves landfill and incineration costs. Moreover, it allows for the recovery of r-granulate that is more economically attractive than virgin granulate — a true game changer for the sector.
Unique selling points
From laboratory validation to industrial demonstration
The technology has been extensively tested at the laboratory level and is now ready for scaling up to an industrial demonstrator. This demonstrator forms the basis for commercial models such as licensing, residual stream recovery, production of r-granulate, and strategic partnerships with recycling companies.
Other
Capital requirement €250,000
The company is seeking €250,000 to complete the engineering phase, build pre-demonstrator modules, and conduct initial industrial tests. This investment reduces technical risks, proves operation under real-world conditions, and prepares for the larger follow-up phase for the commercial demonstrator.
